The National Account Specialty Leasing Manager is responsible for creating income and value for the company through all aspects of national account leasing initiatives pertaining to specialty leasing and other duties as assigned. Under the direction of the Vice President of Specialty Leasing to achieve goal by driving revenue while identifying appropriate concepts to augment merchandising mix, through thoughtful placement, executing visual merchandising and unit design appropriate for the individual shopping center. The position is preferably based in Chicago, IL.
Accountable for driving revenue by prospecting new and working on renewal of short-term License Agreements identified by the company as national accounts.
Deliver timely and accurate data through the completion of all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
Monitor and evaluate national account goal performance for the property and portfolio.
Identify, qualify and secure retailers through cold-calling, canvassing and attending designated trade shows and conferences, while maintaining positive relationships with current retailers and prospective retailers.
Maintain and update prospect / deal activity regularly.
Manage deals through all stages from call-calling, negotiation, unit designs, fully executed agreements, move-in, set-up and sales reporting management.
Has considerable knowledge of License Agreement language.
Has complete understanding of the company’s unit design criteria, approval process and clearly articulates to prospective and existing retailers.
Be the subject matter expert of the discipline with a strong understanding of each property’s common area goals and property vision.
Cultivate and maintain a strong and positive professional relationship, both internally and externally, at all times.
Collaborate with corporate leasing teams and local specialty leasing teams to develop property-level common area strategy consistent with the property’s overall objectives.
Collaborate with Property Management, Leasing, Development, Tenant Coordination, Legal and Accounting.
Clear understanding of merchandising, consumer needs and trends
Actively maintain a key understanding of the dynamics in each market to ensure a strong understanding of market trends, market conditions, demographics, top sales categories, sales for key retailers, and Leasing’s most current activities.
The successful candidate will be a real estate leader with demonstrated accomplishments in leasing and/or specialty leasing within a growing retail portfolio and in meeting the goals and objectives of the portfolio. This individual will be a key member of the specialty leasing team and as such, will need to garner trust and respect across disciplines within the company in order to accomplish his or her tasks.
A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related major or equivalent professional knowledge/work experience.
Certifications from ICSC or other professional designations are a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the specialty leasing and/or leasing field.
Demonstrated real estate experience with a large portfolio of mall properties.
Deal making, prospecting, networking and leasing experience
Must have strong closing skills
Excellent oral and written communications, public speaking and presentation skills
Strong financial acumen and ability to articulate financial implications of decisions as well as collaborate with team members on the impact of those decisions.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite.
