Our client is a vertically integrated private equity real estate firm that has an established track record of providing exceptional risk-adjusted returns to its partners, in both relative and absolute terms. The company is focused on investing in value-add retail real estate assets and stabilized/core grocery-anchored shopping centers in major markets across the United States on behalf of the Client’s principals in partnership with the highest quality institutional investors.
Our client is currently searching for a Regional Director of Leasing based in Chicago, to lease a portfolio that currently includes assets comprising approximately of 2.5mm square feet located within the Midwest. This position will report to the Senior Managing Director of Leasing.
Identify leasing prospects via canvassing, cold calling and by building/maintaining relationships with tenants and tenant brokers;
Negotiate letters of intent and work with the Company’s asset management, construction, and legal departments throughout the lease negotiation process;
Proactively handle tenant renewals to maintain each asset’s income stream;
Review the portfolio for opportunities to upgrade tenancy, increase rent and term and improve lease language/provisions to add long-term value to the assets;
Prepare market studies, lease budgets and leasing activity reports for distribution to senior management and investors;
Development sales tools such as marketing and merchandising plans for property redevelopments along with the Company’s marketing and construction departments;
Serve as “Player-Coach” managing 1-2 junior leasing agents (based on current portfolio)
Bachelor’s degree required
5-10+ years of retail leasing experience dealing with local, regional, national and anchor tenants
Strong understanding of retailers’ site selection needs
Proficient in contemporary PC applications
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Must have pro-active, can-do approach to leasing
Must possess high energy, solid work ethic with a drive to succeed
