The Principal Consultant, Market Research will be responsible for optimizing the Real Estate footprint for Office Depot. The individual will develop/influence the overall real estate strategy for Office Depot and will be responsible for the development of market plans for each market in the US. The individual will provide actionable recommendations for each site/store presented in the monthly Real Estate Committee meetings. The individual will identify a potential list of future store closings based on demographic and competitive analysis and analysis of current transfer rates. The individual will partner with Senior Leadership in the Operations, Finance, and Marketing teams to develop, execute, and monitor the performance of various cross-functional initiatives.
Will perform extensive self-directed and business-directed analysis of store performance, demographic and competitive data. The incumbent is responsible for converting data into knowledge into insights into actionable solutions.
Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years experience in Retail, Real Estate or Finance
Must have 2+ years retail market research experience
Demonstrated ability to think globally/strategically, turn data into information into effective strategies and drive results
Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to turn findings into executable plans
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships
Strong proficiency in Excel, Access, Alteryx, and PowerPoint is required, experience with statistical software and modeling is desirable. Knowledge of and experience in working with GIS packages, MapInfo, demographics, and segmentation systems (Landscape, Microvision, Prizm) is a plus
