A beautiful and historic community, centrally located to several major population centers that utilizes a supportive business approach. Offers a number of incentives including the only Enterprise Zone in McHenry County and is in the process of establishing a new Tax Increment Financing District. This newly-created sales position will advance the City’s strategic initiatives, and broaden our community exposure to prospective developers and businesses resulting in a significant increase to the pace of development. This results-driven sales position will need to actively seek out and engage business prospects and close deals that will result in the relocation or expansion of businesses to Woodstock. This position reports to the Economic Development Director.
Examples of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as economic development point of contact for new business site selection inquiries. Responsible for designing outreach efforts aimed at attracting new businesses, aiding existing businesses in expansion, creation of marketing materials and the management of special projects.
Markets Woodstock as business investment opportunity via multi-disciplinary/multi-media tools including social media outreach and conducting sales presentations and prospect tours. Portrays Woodstock as an economically viable, business-friendly marketplace, with an exceptional quality-of-life environment.
Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with all local business leaders, realtors, commercial brokers, site selectors, and all industrial, commercial, corporate and entrepreneurial business prospects.
Identifies retail and commercial entities which complement the Woodstock business community, initiates contact and pursues their relocation/expansion to this market.
Produces public presentations and media press releases on City’s current and planned economic development activity to business community, governmental agencies, citizen groups, citizens, et al.
Serves as City of Woodstock representative for local and regional economic development related organizations.
Assists the Economic Development Director in the development and implementation of economic strategies, policies, financial assistance, grant proposals and feasibility of projects.
Monitors and researches economic data and trends, including, but not limited to: demographics, utilities, taxes, zoning, transportation, community services and the City’s development process. Analyzes information and produces reports to build awareness with employees and public.
Comprehensively maintains and updates City of Woodstock website as it pertains to Economic Development, including appropriate recordkeeping, internal controls and budget preparation. Researches, enters and maintains the commercial/office and industrial properties/facilities portions of website, and promotes this resource to target audiences.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Marketing, Urban Planning, Economic Development, Real Estate or related disciplines, and three years’ progressively responsible experience required.
Experience in commercial real estate development, managing the negotiation of property acquisition, application of development incentives, and managing the design, finance and construction of commercial real estate facilities, and related activities is highly desirable.
CEcD, EDFP, CCIM or AICP certification a plus.
Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
High energy, enthusiasm and passion with the ability to think and act strategically.
A demonstrated ability to develop a broad network of contacts throughout the nation, and the skill to work with a wide variety of engaged stakeholders including City officials and staff, brokers, developers, and business owners.

Additional Salary Information: Salary for this position will most likely fall between the minimum of $51,417.60 and midpoint of $65,686.40 for the position’s pay grade range commensurate with experience. Additionally, an excellent benefits package is provided.
