ShopCore is currently seeking junior and senior year college students (2019 and 2020 graduates) to join our team for a summer internship either in our Chicago or San Diego office. As part of the internship, ShopCore will provide learning opportunities throughout the organization so that each intern understands the fundamentals of retail real estate industry following this experience. From an everyday perspective, the interns will contribute to best-in-class research, assist with day-to-day responsibilities, contribute to business development initiatives, and carry out tasks for both internal and external clients. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to work well in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, demonstrate clear communication skills, and be motivated to learn – with a deep passion for and interest in Commercial Real Estate as a career. Interns are placed in the following business units: Transactions, Asset Management, Research/National Accounts, Leasing, and Development. Throughout the course of the internship, each intern will work with an assigned project lead to complete an assignment that is pertinent to one of the ShopCore departments. Project findings will be summarized in PowerPoint and presented to the senior executive leadership team in a 20 to 30-minute presentation.
As a Real Estate Summer Intern, one is held accountable to, however not limited to, the following job functions:
Analyze and support underwriting, due diligence and closing of investments and dispositions by collecting information and preparing, reviewing, and summarizing various reports
Conduct Hold vs. Sell property analysis to help determine long-term asset strategy
Analyze Triple Net Rents compared to market and identify arears for improvement
Conduct research and contribute to National retail tenant and market analysis
Enrolled full-time and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Accounting
Strong desire to work in the commercial real estate industry
3.5 or above GPA
Current Junior or Senior year students (2019 and 2020 graduates)
Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities and deadlines, with attention to detail and an ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
High degree of integrity
Work performed in a general office environment.
