The Director of Restaurant Leasing is responsible for the consistently high production of national, regional, and local Restaurant deals across the Starwood Retail Partners portfolio. This position is based in Chicago, IL.
Promote new relationships with desirable Restaurants across a national platform; sells them on the rewards of being located in a Starwood Retail Partners mall.
Communicates with and reports to partners, lenders, and others as applicable, the status of leasing activity, as needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of key restaurants and trends and evaluate the desirability of the same for leasing opportunities within SRP malls
Assesses restaurants for their desirability as tenants at Starwood properties. Qualifies potential tenants by reviewing their financial statements and checking references; negotiates terms of lease on behalf of SRP for highest return to the Owners; including such items as space, basic and percentage rent, term of lease, extra charges, construction allowances, etc.; reviews with immediate supervisor and obtains approval of next level management.
Communicate and coordinate with the Tenant Coordination Department regarding delivery specifications and estimates, lease documentation and design criteria. Initiate preparation of tenant space.
Communicate and coordinate with Legal Department to have documentations prepared incorporating the terms agreed upon and appropriate to the specific property.
Canvass national, regional and local markets to identify potential tenants. Collaborate with local Mall teams and optimize marketing efforts to source and deliver new deals.
Attends leasing conventions and other industry events in order to represent SRP and its properties: creates interest in SRP properties and shares information on new and existing developments with interested parties
The successful candidate will be a real estate leader with demonstrated accomplishments in leasing within a growing retail portfolio and in meeting the goals and objectives of the portfolio. This individual will be a key member of the leasing team and as such, will need to garner trust and respect across disciplines within the company in order to accomplish his or her tasks.
A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related major
10+ years retail/restaurant leasing experience
In-depth knowledge of restaurant operations
In-depth knowledge of deal structures and lease terminology
