Our client is a well-established, private Chicago area real estate firm, who has developed 4 million square feet of retail and over 3,700 multifamily and for-sale homes, is seeking a Vice President of Leasing to work in their corporate office. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of seven years of regional mall leasing and deal-making experience with extensive industry relationships.
PRINCIPAL JOB ACTIVITIES:
Market leasing opportunities to include cold calling and networking local, regional and national retailers.
Evaluate lease expirations and tenant mix to determine re-merchandising opportunities.
Submit deals with proper support (business plan, financials); follow deals from legal, lease execution.to opening
Prepare annual budget forecasts for lease up and/or lease expirations.
Attend national, regional, and local deal-making sessions, and local networking meetings.
Monitor and evaluate sales performance of existing tenants compared to the performance in the marketplace.
Interact with Management and Marketing Departments with respect to tenant sales performance.
Constantly maintain and update tenant contact database, and initiate leasing calls with potential tenants.
Creative deal-making and proactive approach in the ever-changing retail industry.
Cultivate new tenant relationships to forecast replacement of underperforming retailers.
Knowledgeable of retailers’ growth and changing strategies.
Undergraduate degree required. MBA or JD preferred.
Minimum seven years of regional mall leasing and deal making experience.
Redevelopment leasing experience very helpful
Experience in creating merchandising and re-merchandising plans
ICSC CLS designation and Illinois Real Estate License preferred
Very strong retailer contacts with local, regional and national tenants; Retail developer contacts helpful
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Sage Timberline.
Manage time effectively to accomplish goals.
Exhibit high motivation and a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
